Hold bachelors or advanced college degrees and currently practice in tax preparation and tax controversy representation in various parts of the country.
Passed the written admission examination for nonattorneys that allows them to practice before the U.S. Tax Court. This difficult exam is offered only every other year and has an exceptionally low pass rate.
Received the Excellence in Education Award from the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) for “significant contributions having immediate and/or long-term impact on the quality and scope of NAEA education programs.”
Achieved National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) Fellow status by completing a three-level program that focuses on representing taxpayers administratively before the IRS.
Give back to their profession: each is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) and belongs to various other professional associations and has volunteered in various capacities.
Geri Bowman, CPA, EA, USTCP
INSTRUCTOR GERI BOWMAN, CPA, EA, USTCP, holds a BS, Accounting degree from University of Akron. Her tax and accounting firm in Mogadore, Ohio focuses on serving the small business market. She is a certified public accountant with more than 20 years’ experience, an enrolled agent, and was admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court in 2013. She is a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute and served as the NTPI Planning committee chair for several years. Since 2014 Geri has served as an instructor for a USTCP prep study course assisting others as they realize their goal of becoming admitted to practice before the Tax Court. She has taught for the National Tax Practice Institute and various NAEA state and local affiliates. Geri was presented with the 2015 President’s Award in recognition for her efforts with the education programs offered by NAEA, and she received the NAEA Excellence in Education award in 2016.
Thomas A. Gorczynski, EA, CTC, USTCP
INSTRUCTOR THOMAS A. GORCZYNSKI, EA, CTC, USTCP is the Senior Tax Consultant at Gorczynski & Associates, LLC in Phoenix, AZ. He is an enrolled agent, a Certified Tax Coach, a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI), and was admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court in 2015. He earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University and a Certificate in Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. His firm specializes in tax preparation for small business owners and individuals with foreign income and asset reporting requirements, tax controversy representation, and advanced tax planning strategies. Tom, recipient of the 2018 Certified Tax Coach of the year, is a nationally-known speaker on tax law and procedure and has spoken for the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA), the California Society of Enrolled Agents Super Seminars, and other national, state, and local organizations. He also is a skilled technical writer on tax law and strategy and published in EA Journal.
Kevin C. Huston, EA, USTCP, MBA, ChFC, CLU
INSTRUCTOR KEVIN C. HUSTON, EA, USTCP, MBA, ChFC, CLU is the president of Blue Ridge Tax Advisors, Inc., a tax, representation, and wealth-management firm in Asheville, NC. Kevin received his BS degree in Business Management from Oakland University in Rochester Michigan, and his MBA in International Business from Georgia State University in Atlanta. In addition, Kevin holds the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), and the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Kevin is an enrolled agent with 30 years’ experience preparing tax returns, a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute (NTPI) and was admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court in 2013. A nationally known tax instructor over the past 25 years, he has instructed at NATP and NAEA’s National Conferences, NTPI, Drake Software tax update schools, California Society of Enrolled Agents Super Seminars, and numerous other state tax associations. He has authored several tax and financial articles for professional journals. In 2017, Kevin was awarded the NAEA Excellence in Education Award.
Sherrill L. Trovato, MBA, MST, EA, USTCP
INSTRUCTOR SHERRILL L. (GREGORY) TROVATO, MBA, MST, EA, USTCP holds degrees in BA, Accounting, MBA (Finance), and Master of Science (Taxation). She is an enrolled agent with 25 years’ experience, a Fellow of the National Tax Practice Institute, and was admitted to practice before the US Tax Court in 2001. Her Fountain Valley, CA firm focuses on individual and small business needs including tax preparation and controversy representation. She has been a regular NTPI instructor since 2002, frequently speaks at various organizations, and has authored several tax and financial articles for professional journals. Sherrill developed and began teaching Preparing to Practice before the US Tax Court after passing the exam on her first attempt; nearly 80% of those passing the exam since 2002 have been her students or used her materials. Her awards include the NAEA Excellence in Education award (2004), NAEA’s Mentor of the Year award (2011), and the Founders Award (2014), NAEA’s highest award bestowed upon a member, to recognize her significant achievement and contributions on behalf of enrolled agents.
